Dan Restivo was raised in the Green Mountain region of Vermont in a musicalhousehold. Immersed in traditional and folk musics, he was introduced to Irish
traditional music via the seminal recordings of the Bothy Band and the Chieftans.
His exploration of Irish music was fostered under the auspices of a research grant from the Canada Council for the Arts that took him to Ireland (where he spontaneously took up residence for a number of years). He has performed with myriad ensembles and artists in Canada, the USA, and Europe. In 2004 he was featured on the ‘Spirit of Ireland’ North American Tour and he performed with ‘The Magic of Ireland’ on a 2008 Canadian tour. Dan is currently based in Toronto where he teaches and performs regularly at sessions, ceilis, weddings and other various events. Recent local engagements include performances for the Ireland Fund of Canada, Tourism Ireland, and the Toronto Country Dancers.
