Fiddler Cathal Hayden once remarked about Jason Pfeiffer that “…he’s not just playing the flute, he’s singing through it.”
An award-winning musician with a diverse background of teaching, performing and writing, Jason has been involved in music for over 25 years. He pursued studies in Performance at the Manhattan School of Music (NYC) and William Paterson University (NJ) and was awarded a B.A. in Religion & Music from LaSalle University (PA). With forays into everything from Jazz to World music, he has shared stages with such artists as Latin percussionist Ray Barretto, jazz musicians Benny Golson, Rufus Reid, Art Farmer, and trumpeter Jon Faddis. Jason has appeared internationally at festivals, pubs, coffeehouses and folk clubs as well as concert halls like Lincoln Center and Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.
Jason came to Irish music in the 1990’s while living in Philadelphia, PA. He immersed himself in the city’s Irish Music community and quickly became a regular performer at area festivals, venues and dances, playing with some of the city’s finest traditional musicians. He made his recording debut as part of The Wexford Boys on Seems Like Only Yesterday.
Jason recently relocated in Ontario, where he plays regularly at sessions, performs as part of HAWP (www.hawp.ca), and is an occasional guest with Floating Widget, The Grand River Ceili Band and others. See www.TheTriskellStudio.com for more information.
