Congratulations to RCC’s very own Robin Aggus, who was recently invited to be MacDougall Cottage’s very first Musician in Residence this year!
Robin teaches piping classes at RCC, and is also on the RCS board.
Historical MacDougall Cottage, a c.1858 limestone labourer’s dwelling, is a heritage house in Galt, with spectacular hand-painted friezes and trompe l’oeil ceilings. It is located at 89 Grand Avenue South in Cambridge, on the banks of the Grand River, and is owned and operated by the Region of Waterloo.
The cottage serves as an interpretation centre, showcasing its unique interior landscapes, presenting exhibits of local interest and sharing research resources with the public. (Also, the talented students of Riverside Celtic College have done many musical sessions/performances at MacDougall Cottage, to the delight and appreciation of MacDougall’s audiences!)
During his residency, Robin is researching the the development of the pastoral pipes and piping repertoire and traditions in Scotland.
He will be doing a series of performances, workshops and talks about bagpipes this coming year, culminating in a final concert next spring with some surprise guests–we’ll keep you posted!
For more detailed info see the attached Musician in Residence brochure. Hope to see you at one of the upcoming events!
Slainte,
Eva
