This is an excellent course for instrumentalists who want to strengthen their musicianship as well as “shower singers” who secretly want to try voice lessons but are a wee bit shy! Class time is divided equally between learning songs, and other related activities: voice warm-ups, discovering your voice range, listening to different styles of celtic song, trying some part and harmony singing, chatting about history and theory. At the end of this course you will be able to join in or start common session songs, know how to sing a song and keep it interesting, sing some basic Irish and Gaidhlig, and take good care of your “pipes”! You will understand more about singing traditions from Ireland and Scotland, and have a good grasp of the unique physical and emotional experiences of singing compared to playing an instrument.
