Intermediate Irish Fiddle (intermediate – some experience necessary)

You should be able to play several tunes up to speed and in good rhythm. Bowing technique and ornamentation will be discussed (rolls, cuts, triplets etc.) in reference to how you can achieve a good sense of rhythm and “lift” in your playing. The different regional styles of playing will be compared, and various types of dance tunes (jigs, reels, hornpipes etc.) will be taught by ear, with written music provided for reference.
