This class is an introduction to playing Irish music for those who have a basic understanding of how to play the violin. You will be introduced to the rich and varied repertoire of Irish music (jigs, reels, hornpipes, waltzes and polkas) through discussion of playing technique, style, listening to recordings, and learning tunes. Tunes will be taught by ear and recorded versions of the tunes will be sent to each student via email as we learn them. For absolute beginners, it is recommended that you first take the Beginner Adult Violin 1 & 2.
